Passeggio, guardandomi attorno, in una delle più affascinanti piazze del nostro paese, Piazza dei Signori, al centro della città di Verona. La statua di Dante Alighieri mi rivolge, immobile, uno sguardo profondamente interrogativo. Così anche la mia mente inizia ad intraprendere percorsi costellati di memorie e riflessioni: ricordo il giorno in cui, qualche tempo fa, incontrai Icaro Olivieri, ed una nuova avventura ebbe inizio in questa meravigliosa città storica.
Verona ha infatti accolto il progetto Lords of Verona, gestito da Allegroitalia, che con successo verrà inaugurato tra pochi giorni.
Tutto il processo, inizialmente intangibile tra schizzi ed accordi, è finalmente tangibile nella sua completezza: i 32 luxury serviced apartment sono avvolti da incantevoli mura storiche, una perfetta cornice composta dalla Casa della Pietà assieme alla sua Torre Medioevale.
Come guardare al futuro senza calpestare la grandiosità della storia?
In che modo valorizzare al meglio i tesori che caratterizzano la ricca cultura veronese?
Questo è il messaggio fondamentale che ho voluto trasmettere proprio grazie a questa nuova sfida: coniugare passato e futuro, sintonizzando antiche costruzioni e nuovissime strutture lineari.
Rendere un’opera storica ancora più significativa, aggiungendo ai tesori medievali un nuovo significato; per non smettere mai di sorprendere ed offrire una lettura del passato attraverso nuove visioni contemporanee.
Lords of Verona diviene così un’opera d’arte totale, con elementi di tradizione e nuovi, una tela da osservare ma allo stesso tempo un interessante spazio dedicato al design contemporaneo, un’installazione da vivere oggi che non abbandona la grandiosità di ieri.
Questo progetto affronta il tema dell’ospitalità con una finalità ben precisa: innovare questo settore senza rinunciare alla raffinata atmosfera tipica di una città storica italiana.
L’ospite di questa struttura avrà quindi la possibilità di alienarsi dalla quotidianità, abbandonando ogni negatività grazie ad una realtà di riflessione e benessere.

Lords of Verona – Remembering and renewing

I walk through one of the most charming town square in Italy, Piazza dei Signori.
The statue representing the well-known italian poet Dante Alighieri, is staring at me with wondering eyes.
My mind therefore starts getting lost through memories and reflections: I remember the day when I met Icaro Olivieri, and the new adventure begun in this amazing historic city.
Verona has welcomed the Lords of Verona project, with the collaboration of Allegroitalia, which will be opened in few days.
The whole process, intangible at the beginning with sketches and agreements, is finally completed and tangible: 32 luxury serviced apartments are surrounded by charming historic walls, a perfect frame made of the Casa della Pietà with its medieval tower.
Can we look at the future without destroying the great history of a nation?
How to promote all the treasures that characterize such a rich culture as the Veronese one?
This is the primary message that I have wanted to transmit facing this challenge: combine future and past, lining-up ancient buildings and recent linear structures.
Make an historical work of art even more meaningful, adding to medieval treasures a brand new meaning; giving a reason to not stop at surprising, though a contemporary vision to read the past.
Lords of Verona impersonates a complete work of art, with old and new elements, a painting to stare at and an interesting design space from the nowadays as well, a contemporary exhibition to live which never get over the great past.
This project wants to deal with the hospitality theme with a specific aim: innovate this field without renouncing a refined atmosphere, characteristic of the Verona city.
The guest who will be hosted by this building is going to have the possibility to abandon the everyday life, leaving all kind of negativity, thanks to a meditative and wellness reality.
