Che cosa significa sostenibile? Che si può sostenere, sorreggere. O, nell’accezione a noi progettisti più vicina, il termine sostenibile indica processo di sviluppo economico e produttivo tendente ad armonizzare lo sfruttamento delle risorse disponibili con il rispetto delle condizioni e delle compatibilità ambientali.

La parola sostenibilità quindi abbraccia un vasto campo di significati: dalla fondamentale attenzione all’ambiente che ci circonda, all’armonia delle proporzioni, alla tensione verso una bellezza che sia il risultato dell’amalgamarsi di forma e funzione. Sostenibilità significa anche  impiego intelligente delle risorse a disposizione e farsi carico delle responsabilità che oggi il progetto porta con sé. 

Quando disegno, quando sogno, quando progetto tengo sempre conto del ruolo che l’opera assumerà nella società, nello spazio, nell’ambiente al fine di dotarla delle caratteristiche necessarie al suo sviluppo, alla sua riuscita, al suo trasformarsi in motore attivo e riqualificatore dell’intero contesto circostante. 

Il termine sostenibilità racchiude quindi la volontà di sostenere e sostenersi, il desiderio di stare in piedi, la consapevolezza di potersi ergere sulla vetta del mercato contemporaneo e vincere le correnti battaglie commerciali. 

What does sustainable mean?

What does sustainable mean?  Something that can be sustained or mantained.

On the other hand, for designers the word sustainable means a process of cheap and productive development that harmonizes the exploitation of resources with respect for the environmental conditions.

The word sustainability embraces therefore a vast field of meanings: from the fundamental attention to the environment that surrounds us, to the harmony of proportions, to the striving for a beauty that is the result of the amalgamation of form and function. Sustainability also means the intelligent use of the resources and taking on the responsibilities that the project brings with it today.

When I design, when I dream, I always keep in mind the position that the work will take up in society, in space and in the environment, in order to provide it with the necessary characteristics for its development, its success, its transformation into a piece of redevelopment or the whole surrounding area.

The term sustainability therefore encompasses the desire to support and sustain, the desire to stand up, the awareness of being able to stand on the top of the contemporary market and win the current commercial battles.
