Conoscevo Adolfo, per me è stato un mentore ed un amico e c’è una piccola parte del suo pensiero che continua a vivere attraverso me.

All’università seguivo con dovizia il suo corso di progettazione architettonica ma non era il mio professore. “Quando vieni a fare l’esame?” mi chiese un giorno incuriosito. “No professore io non vengo, l’esame dovrò sostenerlo con Galli secondo il mio piano di studi. Frequento anche il suo corso”.

Adolfo rimase piacevolmente colpito dall’intensità con cui ascoltavo le sue lezioni, dall’impegno che mettevo nelle esercitazioni anche se non avrebbero fruttato alcun voto alla fine dell’anno accademico.

Da quel giorno siamo diventati amici.

Mi ha trasmesso la sua passione per l’architettura, la necessità di credere fermamente nel proprio modo di progettare, la voglia di osare e sperimentare.

Adolfo Natalini è stato un grande architetto italiano, ha dato forma all’architettura radicale e con Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, altro amico, ha fondato il Superstudio. Ha trasformato Firenze e con il suo pensiero ha contribuito a farla diventare il centro del fermento culturale italiano degli anni settanta.

Il nostro segno è sempre stato diverso, l’espressività dissonante ma medesimo lo spirito che ha animato il nostro fare progettuale ed il rapporto di stima reciproca che abbiamo costruito.

ADOLFO NATALINI, GOODBYE

I knew Adolfo, he was a mentor and friend for me and there is a small part of his thought that continues to live through me.

At university I was carefully following his course of architecture but he was not my professor. 

“When are you coming for the exam?” he asked me curiously one day. 

“No, Professor, I’m not coming. I will have to take the exam with prof. Galli, according to my study plan. I also attend his course.”

Adolfo was pleasantly impressed by the intensity with which I listened to his lessons, by the commitment that I put into the exercises even if they would not have earned any marks at the end of the academic year.

From that day, we became friends.

He transmitted me his passion for architecture, the need to firmly believe in our own way of designing, the desire to dare and experiment.

Adolfo Natalini was a great Italian architect, he gave shape to radical architecture and with Cristiano Toraldo di Francia, another friend, he founded “Superstudio”.

He transformed Florence and with his thought he helped make it the center of the Italian cultural ferment of the seventies.

Our sign has always been different, the expression dissonant but the same spirit animated our design and the relationship of mutual esteem that we have built.
