Esplorare, scoprire, conoscere, imparare. 

I ritmi nuovi, più lenti, che la seconda ondata di Covid-19 impone hanno un risvolto positivo: ci invitano alla riflessione, all’approfondimento, a comprendere il nostro tempo e ricavare dall’analisi nuove risposte, che non ci saremmo potuti immaginare in una situazione diversa, meno drammatica, non così radicale. 

Ogni grande sconvolgimento genera dilatazioni del pensiero verso vie che attraversano l’ignoto. Così, mentre perso nei meandri della mia mente, riflettevo sulle strade che il progetto potrebbe intraprendere per soddisfare i desideri dell’uomo, ho deciso di indagare il significato di superficie.
Super-facies, latino, sopra le facce. La faccia è il lato di un corpo ma è anche sinonimo di espressione. “Che faccia hai fatto?” Diciamo ad un amico che ci sembra incredulo oppure disgustato. E quindi ci sono tante facce possibili, diverse a seconda dello stato d’animo. 

Amiamo la superficie terrestre perché è solida e ci fa sentire sicuri ma sogniamo di volare per sentirci leggeri, liberi, spensierati, mai così tanto come in questi giorni difficili. Ho deciso di unire necessità a desiderio perché puntare all’orizzonte mi spinge ad andare avanti, squarciare il presente per scoprire il futuro. Combinando la fermezza della terra con la leggerezza dell’azzurro del cielo o del mare progetto luoghi inusuali in cui vivere e fare esperienze che si trasformano in memoria. Una casa sull’albero o una suite sulla superficie cristallina dell’acqua, spazi nuovi per un melting pot di sensazioni da regalare a chi vi soggiorna, per una nuova ospitalità o un rinnovato concetto di abitare.

The new, slower rhythms that the second wave of Covid-19 imposes have a positive side: they invite us to reflect, to deepen our understanding, to understand our time, and to get new answers from the analysis, which we could not have imagined in a different, less dramatic, not so radical situation. 

Every great upheaval generates expansions of thought towards paths that cross the unknown. So, while lost in the meanders of my mind, reflecting on the paths that the project could take to satisfy man’s desires, I decided to investigate the meaning of the surface. Super-facies, Latin, above the faces. The face is the side of a body but is also synonymous with expression. “What face did you make?” We tell a friend that he looks incredulous or disgusted. And so there are so many possible faces, different depending on the mood. 

We love the earth’s surface because it is solid and makes us feel safe but we dream of flying to feel light, free, carefree, never so much as in these difficult days. I decided to combine necessity with desire because aiming at the horizon pushes me to move forward, to tear the present to discover the future. By combining the firmness of the earth with the lightness of the blue of the sky or the sea I design unusual places to live and have experiences that turn into memories. A suite in the woods or on the crystalline surface of the water, new spaces for a melting pot of sensations to give to those who stay there, for new hospitality or a renewed concept of living.
