Uno dei principi del mondo greco era la kalokagathìa, un concetto che deriva dalle parole kalos kai agathos ovvero “bello” e “buono”. Per i greci la bellezza si identificava con il giusto, con il vero e più concretamente con l’armonia delle parti.  L’armonia è il giusto modo, il giusto equilibrio delle cose.
Nel mio fare progettuale perseguo tale apparentemente arcaica regola che vede armonia ed equilibrio al “centro”.
Il bello si dona a noi continuamente, lo troviamo nelle forme perfette della natura, nell’arte, nella letteratura. Noi uomini metropolitani abbiamo le menti intorpidite dai negativi messaggi estetici e contenutistici che provengono dalle periferie ma non solo.
Siamo assuefatti dall’orrido costruito che ha devastato infiniti spazi terrestri, a partire dal post fascismo giungendo sino ad oggi. Abituati a vivere guardando ‘case e cose’ terribili convincendoci che ciò rappresenti la norma!
Non è cosi!!!
Ci siamo progressivamente e volontariamente “fulminati” una parte del cervello.
“La bellezza salverà il mondo” diceva Dostoevskij mai come oggi la sua asserzione rappresenta un’incontestabile verità.
Ecco il motivo per cui lottare insieme: favorire una globale “rieducazione”, per costruire ‘case e cose’ con un impegno intellettuale diverso!!! 

EDUCATING TO BEAUTY 

One of the principles of the Greek world was kalokagathìa, a concept derived from the words kalos kai agathos, meaning ‘beautiful’ and ‘good’.
For the Greeks, beauty was identified with what was right, with what was true and, more specifically, with the harmony of the parts. Harmony is the right way, the right balance of things.
In my design, I pursue this apparently archaic rule that sees harmony and balance at the “centre”.
We find it in the perfect forms of nature, in art, in literature. We, as metropolitan men, have our minds numbed by the negative aesthetic and content messages that come from the suburbs and beyond.
We are addicted to the horrid construction that has devastated countless terrestrial spaces, from post-fascism to the present day. We are used to living looking at terrible ‘houses and things’, convincing ourselves that this represents the norm!
But it shouldn’t be like this!
We have progressively and voluntarily ‘electrocuted’ a part of our brain.
“Beauty will save the world” Dostoevsky said, and his assertion has never been more true than today.
This is the reason why we must fight together: to promote a global “re-education”, to build “houses and things” with a different intellectual commitment!!!
