Gli individui in principio erano esseri a quattro gambe, quattro braccia e due teste. Poi Zeus decise di dividerli per porre rimedio alla loro esagerata insolenza. Così ognuno di noi è una metà in cerca della propria controparte. Ciascuno cerca l’altro per raggiungere la primordiale completezza. Così Platone racconta nel Simposio, una delle sue opere più conosciute, rielaborando l’antico mito greco di Aristofane.

Siamo anime che desiderano riconoscersi. Siamo forme che aspirano ad incastrarsi, ammaliate dall’ideale di perfezione a cui tendiamo intimamente. L’altro rappresenta il modo per vedere noi stessi, comprenderci, osservarci da vicino, capire chi siamo. Ciascuno è un microcosmo intelligente, indipendente ma che diventa migliore quando, amando, costruisce una relazione profonda con un uomo, una donna, un amico, un figlio, un genitore, con un altro individuo.

Diviene capace di provare l’intensità delle emozioni, la verità delle sensazioni, la profondità delle luci e delle ombre che giorno dopo giorno caratterizzano la prospettiva della nostra esistenza. 

Creare, dare vita a oggetti, edifici, dimensioni, spazi è una delle modalità attraverso cui determino il mio amore, l’abilità di amare. Doni ponderati, omaggi cortesi, volti ad accrescere la straordinarietà dell’esistenza, ad aumentare il benessere di ogni essere vivente. Le forme, le superfici, la materia plasmata sono singole componenti che desiderano l’altro per sorreggersi, colonne solide, capaci di sostenere un intero tempio e le migliaia di persone che lo attraversano.

È questo anche l’ideale che ha ispirato l’esibizione a cui darò vita ad Ajman, negli Emirati Arabi Uniti, in occasione di Al Murabbaa Arts Festival, dal 28 ottobre al 6 novembre. Giornate dedicate alla bellezza, all’arte, all’architettura e al design con l’intento di regalare ai visitatori esperienze uniche ed emozioni irripetibili altrove. Il 12 luglio è prevista la conferenza stampa di lancio.
Desidero dare forma ad una mostra dedicata agli esseri umani, fatta da opere che si combinano, integrano, modellano l’una sull’altra generando dimensioni e prospettive molteplici, visioni contenutistiche e intellettive da esplorare, non ancora note, capaci di portare la mente ad aprirsi verso l’altrove.

The other half

Individuals were originally beings with four legs, four arms and two heads. Then Zeus decided to divide them up to remedy their exaggerated insolence. So each of us is a half in search of its counterpart. Each seeks the other to achieve primordial completeness. This is what Plato says in the Symposium, one of his best-known works, reworking the ancient Greek myth by Aristophanes.

We are souls that wish to recognise ourselves. We are forms that aspire to fit together, captivated by the ideal of perfection to which we aspire intimately. The others are the way to see ourselves, to understand ourselves, to observe us closely, to understand who we are. Everyone is an intelligent, independent microcosm, but it becomes better when, by loving, it builds a deep relationship with a man, a woman, a friend, a child, a parent, with another individual.

It becomes capable of experiencing the intensity of emotions, the truth of sensations, the depth of light and shadow that day after day characterize the perspective of our existence. 

Creating, giving life to objects, buildings, dimensions, spaces is one of the ways in which I determine my love, the ability to love. Thoughtful gifts, courteous tributes, aimed at enhancing the extraordinariness of existence, at increasing the well-being of every living being. The forms, the surfaces, the shaped matter are individual components that desire each other to support them, solid columns, capable of supporting an entire temple and the thousands of people who pass through it. 

This is also the ideal that has inspired the exhibition I will be creating in Ajman, in the United Arab Emirates, during the Al Murabbaa Arts Festival, from 28 October to 6 November. These days are dedicated to beauty, art, architecture and design with the aim of offering visitors unique experiences and emotions that cannot be found elsewhere. The launch press conference is scheduled for 12th July.

I would like to give shape to an exhibition dedicated to human beings, made up of works that combine, integrate, model one on the other, generating multiple dimensions and perspectives, content, and intellectual visions to be explored, not yet known, capable of leading the mind to open up towards the elsewhere.
