Martedì è morto Remo Buti, architetto e designer fiorentino stimato in tutto il mondo. Protagonista del Movimento Radicale, ha lasciato il segno nella storia d’Italia. Un uomo giovane di spirito a cui il tempo non ha fatto perdere il desiderio di sperimentare, scoprire, rivelare. Un uomo dall’immensa cultura e stimolante sapere! Un vero e proprio Creatore che anche io ho amato tanto.

È stato uno dei più carismatici professori della Facoltà di architettura di Firenze. Insegnava arredamento anni fa, quando anche io frequentavo l’UNIFI.  Seguivo con assiduità le sue lezioni anche se il mio corso era guidato da un’altro docente: «Quando vieni a fare la prova finale?» mi chiese un giorno «no professore, seguo le sue lezioni perché mi piace ascoltarla, perché mi fa sognare ad occhi aperti, perché mi sento di crescere standole vicino ma non farò l’esame con lei» gli risposi sorridendo!

Quel giorno Remo rimase piacevolmente colpito dalle mie parole, forse dal mio candore di giovane pieno di emozione, passione e trasporto. Nacque così una grande amicizia, fatta di straordinarietà e meraviglia, che continuò negli anni.  Da allora non smettemmo mai d’incontrarci e, quando possibile, di dare vita a storie di comune interesse. Remo è stato un grande maestro per molti, in particolare per me!

Un caro amico, un reale mentore che mi ha aiutato ad aprire gli occhi, ad espandere spazi mentali.

Per lui, allegro ed intelligente uomo, nutro una stima immensa, un rispetto enorme: non è stato solo architetto e designer ma un vero e proprio Creatore.

A tribute to Remo Buti

Remo Buti, the world-renowned Florentine architect and designer, died on Tuesday. A leading figure in the Radical Movement, he left his mark on the history of Italy. He was a young man whose spirit had not lost its desire to experiment, discover and reveal. A man of immense culture and stimulating knowledge! A true Creator whom I also loved so much.

He was one of the most charismatic professors in the Faculty of Architecture in Florence. He taught furniture years ago, when I was also attending UNIFI. I assiduously followed his lessons even though my course was led by another lecturer: “When are you coming to take the final exam?” he asked me one day, “no professor, I follow your lessons because I like listening to you, because you make me daydream, because I feel like I’m growing up by being close to you, but I won’t take the exam with you”, I replied, smiling!

That day Remo was pleasantly struck by my words, perhaps by my candour as a young man full of emotion, passion and enthusiasm. This was the beginning of a great friendship, made up of extraordinariness and wonder, which continued over the years.  Since then, we never stopped meeting and, when possible, creating stories of common interest. Remo has been a great teacher for many, especially for me!

A dear friend, a real mentor who helped me to open my eyes, to expand mental spaces.

For him, a cheerful and intelligent man, I have immense esteem, enormous respect: he was not just an architect and designer but a true Creator.
