“Vedere un mondo in un granello di sabbia e un paradiso in un fiore selvatico, tenere l’infinito nel palmo della mano e l’eternità in un’ora” scrisse il poeta inglese William Blake. Parole come queste hanno riempito la mia mente mentre passeggiavo per il deserto di Dubai con Roberta. Liberi dal peso della quotidianità, sospesi in uno spazio altro rispetto all’ordinario, abbiamo lasciato che i nostri corpi si muovessero liberi e i pensieri fluissero senza freno o filtri. Che le idee si librassero nell’atmosfera, lontane dal solito, scevre da ogni convenzione. 

Senza tempo, senza spazio, senza limiti. Per modellare nuovi ragionamenti, forme inedite, opere uniche, insolite, inconsuete. Affascinati dalla perfezione di un granello di sabbia, abbiamo immaginato architetture perfette. Ammaliati dai colori fantastici, dalla materia, dalla potenza e dalla maestria della natura, abbiamo pensato alla forza creatrice, alle sue virtù, alla tensione continua che spinge ogni esistenza verso la bellezza. Anche noi, mentre attraversavamo le distese di sabbia sconfinate, meravigliose e incontaminate, che appaiono, inaspettatamente, a pochi chilometri dalla lussuosa città degli Emirati Arabi Uniti, ci siamo sentiti la parte importante di un organismo esclusivo, l’universo. 

Abbiamo toccato per un attimo l’infinito e rimembrato che ogni opera a cui diamo vita, fisica o intellettuale, tridimensionale o virtuale, concreta o astratta, è un elemento indispensabile del tutto e per questo diventa connubio di presente e passato, crocevia di culture, passaggio verso il futuro. Ogni mia nuova creazione desidera essere l’incontro di storia e sapienza con l’intento di superare ciò che è già accaduto e osare, aprire nuovi varchi nella realtà.

Words like these filled my mind as I strolled through the Dubai desert with Roberta. Free from the weight of everyday life, suspended in a space other than the ordinary, we let our bodies move freely and our thoughts flow without brakes or filters.  Let our ideas float in the atmosphere, far from the usual, free of all convention. 

Without time, without space, without limits. To model new reasoning, new forms, unique, unusual works. Fascinated by the perfection of a grain of sand, we imagined perfect architectures. Fascinated by the fantastic colors, matter, power and mastery of nature, we thought about the creative force, its virtues, the continuous tension that pushes all existence towards beauty. We too, as we crossed the endless, marvelous and uncontaminated expanses of sand that appear, unexpectedly, just a few kilometers from the luxurious city of the United Arab Emirates, felt like an important part of an exclusive organism, the universe. 

We touched infinity for a moment and remembered that every work we give life to, whether physical or intellectual, three-dimensional or virtual, concrete or abstract, is an indispensable element of the whole and therefore becomes a combination of the present and the past, a crossroads of cultures, a passage towards the future. Each of my new creations wishes to be the meeting of history and wisdom with the intention of going beyond what has already happened and daring to open up new gaps in reality.
