Il giorno del compleanno, attraverso uno sguardo, un gesto o un’attenzione inaspettata, accade che l’anima avverte la potenza e l’energia della nostra più forte e vera ragione di vita, quella che in ogni momento, per quanto difficile possa essere, ci accompagna freneticamente verso il futuro: l’amore. Quell’amore che si incastona in ogni forma che appartiene alla nostra sfera del sentire, quell’amore che ci conduce al bisogno di creare, di costruire. Costruire per non perdere, per non provare la paura che qualcosa ci lasci. Costruire per restare.

Restare significa diventare storia, e la storia è «testimone dei tempi, luce della verità, vita della memoria, maestra di vita» (Cicerone, De Oratore): la memoria è conoscenza di un passato che ci permette di vivere e interpretare il nostro presente con maggiore consapevolezza. Tenere viva la memoria di ciò che è stato costruito, creato o anche soltanto pensato, è fondamentale perché le esperienze vissute assumano valore. Il giorno in cui celebriamo la nostra nascita passiamo attraverso le relazioni, che altro non sono se non la moltiplicazione del seme della nostra essenza. Ed è in effetti questo, questa piccola porzione del nostro essere che lungo il viaggio mettiamo negli altri, a renderci parte di un flusso di memorie che, a sua volta, senza esserne consapevoli, aggiunge vita alla nostra vita.

On the day of the birthday, through a glance, a gesture or an unexpected attention, it happens that the soul feels the power and the energy of our strongest and true reason of life, the one that in every moment, however difficult it may be, accompanies us frantically towards the future: love. That love that is embedded in every form that belongs to our sphere of feeling, that love that leads us to the need to create, to build. Building to not lose, not to feel the fear that something will leave us. Building to stay.

To remain means becoming history, and history is «a witness of the times, light of truth, life of memory, teacher of life» (Cicero, De Oratore): memory is knowledge of a past that allows us to live and interpret our present with greater awareness. Keeping alive the memory of what has been built, created or even thought, is fundamental for the value of lived experiences. The day we celebrate our birth we pass through relationships, which are nothing but the multiplication of the seed of our essence. And it is indeed this, this small portion of our being that along the journey we put into others, that makes us part of a flow of memories that, in turn, without being aware of it, adds life to our lives.
