Per la società occidentale, la dicotomia esistente tra il centro della città e il suo intorno è da sempre un concetto in costante mutamento, che tuttavia mantiene in sé l’immagine di un rapporto tra due elementi che si escludono vicendevolmente. Nel corso della storia, il cardine di questa suddivisione è stato individuato nelle qualità urbane e architettoniche degli spazi. Esiste però un filo conduttore che dovrebbe sempre unire la progettazione di un luogo e il momento in cui lo stesso assume valore. A proposito di questo, la veste di uno spazio è in stretto rapporto di dipendenza con il valore che chi vive è in grado di attribuirgli.

Nei molteplici progetti di riqualificazione emersi negli ultimi anni, l’intenzione di intervenire sulla forma non è più sufficiente a creare un ponte tra queste due facce della stessa medaglia, la necessità è ad oggi quella di fornire i mezzi e gli strumenti, affinché la marginale realtà periferica diventi sostanziale ed entri in costante sinergia con il processo vitale dell’intero luogo. Strumento essenziale di questo lungo percorso di cambiamento altro non può essere se non l’avvio di uno scambio di valori paritetico che permetta l’accesso alla cultura, a quella cultura che si presta ad essere il più potente e funzionante motore di crescita. L’effetto di questa è evidente nell’architettura, nel design o in qualsiasi altra forma d’arte: all’interno di una mostra o mentre si osserva un semplice oggetto, i nostri sensi si integrano alimentandosi a vicenda, passando dall’essere una somma di cose ad esserne una sola. 

Re-Generation Culture 

For Western society, the dichotomy between the city centre and its surroundings has always been a constantly changing concept, yet it retains in itself the image of a relationship between two mutually exclusive elements. Throughout history, the cornerstone of this subdivision has been identified in the urban and architectural qualities of the spaces. However, there is a common thread that should always unite the design of a place and the moment in which it takes on value. Speaking of this, the role of a space is closely dependent on the value that those who live are able to attribute to it.

In the regeneration projects that have emerged in recent years, the intention to intervene on the form is no longer sufficient to create a bridge between these two sides of the same coin, the need is to provide the means and tools, so that the peripheral reality becomes substantial and enters into constant synergy with the vital process of the whole place. An essential instrument of this long path of change can only be the start of an exchange of values that allows equal access to culture, to that culture that lends itself to being the most powerful and functioning engine of growth. The effect of this is evident in architecture, design or any other form of art: in an exhibition or while observing a simple object, our senses are integrated by feeding each other, passing from being a sum of things to being one.
